Mood Poll

Where would you place yourself on the following scale

1. Almost always happy and content
2. generally happy and content
3. Somewhere in between
4 Usually somewhat blue
5 Often severely depressed

Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?

Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if applicable)?

*********

Twenty-three people answered the mood poll. Thanks to all who responded.

We seem to have a fairly top heavy scale--12 votes above an even 3, and 3 votes below.

1 has 3 votes
1&2 has 4 votes
2 has 5 votes
1&3 has 1 vote
2-3 has 2 votes
3 has 5 votes
3-4 has 1 vote
4 has 1 vote
5 has 1 vote

11 of those responding said they have wide mood swings.
5 people said they used to have but not so much now
7 said no, not often, or only seasonalor based on life situation

Changes in mood swings:

8 people said K was the cause of mood swings
7 people said they had fewer swings since K, or that they were not bothered by them as much--more in control
6 people said they were happier
1 person said it was hard to say

Excerpts:

#3

My mood swings are generally homonally caused - so I take omega fatty acids to counteract them - sometimes they work. ; )

I think I was awakened early in life, but my response was to get heavily into drugs - so it's difficult to know about then, but as I became more or less drug free, the mood swings definitely were more pronounced, and I became able to experience bliss.

********
I find that since my K-awakening, I have more highs and lows. I have always been very balanced and even. (I"m 41 year's old) But for the last 3 years, I have been full of bliss/gratitude and then fear/sorrow. It is wierd. I must have some past life stuff because my friends say that I am one of the most positive people they know. Then it all crashed. I am doing pretty good now. But sometimes when I go to bed, the energy is so strong that I feel like I will buzz out of my body.
Go Figure.

2. generally happy and content

> Do you often have fairly wide mood swings? NO

> > Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if applicable)?
Much happier

*********
2 I'm generally happy and content. However, this has not always been the case. (See below)

I had more mood swings before I knew what was "going on." I'm more able to take the role of The Watcher at this point. Also, I'm able to shift my moods, almost at will, upon the realization I'm in a bad mood!

Before K awakening I would succumb to any and all moods brought on by myself or other people, TV, bad news, etc. I still am extremely sensitive to books and movies. However, before K, I played out the drama every time. Now I try to see everything as an experience to be experienced, but even more so, I see myself experiencing my experiences! Since I realize this, I don't fall prey to black moods and tears and feeling sorry for myself. BUT, I DO experience joy and happiness to the fullest extent possible, even if those emotions are simply found in a sunset or a bird's song.

Usually #4 and sometimes 3 or 5.

> > Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?

Hell, yeah. Not much has changed in that respect, although the mood swings are more sudden now. However, I'm better at letting them pass than I used to be.

> Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if applicable)?

Oh, I think I just answered that. Whoops.
I do feel a teensy bit less edgy and a teensy bit more mellow since my k-awakening though. Hey, it's slow progress, but it's progress. :)

**********
I'm a 5.

> Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?

Oh yeah!

> Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if > applicable)?

Yes. Although I indicated #5 above, I'm overall happier than I was 4 years ago, before awakening. When I'm happy, I am truly, unconditionally happy. By unconditioned I mean that its based on more than just my circumstances at that moment. Something more at my core? Or perhaps its based on nothing at all! I.e. its possible to be happy or joyful without a cause. And the mood swings are not really less intense, but I can manage them better. I don't believe in them quite as much, and they have a gentler character somehow.

> Thank goodness! I cannot imagine having to live without the insights > and inner space that came with awakening. Every now & then I have a > day without those experiences, and boy does it feel yucky!

*******
Have to go with #1.

> Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?

No.

Initially, the mood swings were uncontrollable and nearly unbearable, but that was long ago. Now, there's just this even sort of detachment -- not spaced-out or unaware detachment -- cripes, how do I describe it? :)

*********
At this moment, 2 - generally happy and content

The mood swings are not manic, as I have never been ecstatically happy, but I have often been rather depressed or incredibly angry.

Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if applicable)?

Yes, in that the depressions have been fairly severe and have lasted for months. It seems to happen at the time that I'm being asked to make major changes in my life, like dropping a highly-paid career in favour of a more precariously-paid but nurturing and soul-fulfilling one. It's the death of a part of my old self that has been difficult to date, and that's about my resistance to it. Surrendering to the death and rebirth has made the process A LOT EASIER, and actually pleasant and exciting.

*******
Somewhere in between

>Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?

Yes,

[mood swings] have become fewer and fewer over the years especially since I got on the K-list and started the kriya practice.

********
1 & 2 I am almost always happy and content with, perhaps, 2-3 days a month of irritability and apathy. The distance between the former and the latter feels dramatic but my down days are not nearly as frequent or intense as they were in earlier days of Kundalini. I've been experimenting a lot with nutrition and exercise in order to stabilize mood -- which in my case is also connected to migraine. After a certain amount of Kundalini clearing, it becomes obvious that a good deal of mood is electrochemically, rather than psychologically, generated.

3 No question that K caused mood swings in me.

Yeah me too. Like last Sat, I was PMSing, in a cranky mood, snapped at my druid... observed myself, decided to skip it and transformed myself into an excellent mood. Went out to a party and had a great time!

3. Somewhere in between

> Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?

Normally, I go through some longer trend-like stuff (seasonal, or whatever), but they are gradual shifts of mood and nothing severe. Since the equinox, though, it's been rather rough and tumble.

********
Wowee this is a good question for me probably in between #3 and #4 the past few months I have been really moody. I have some major stuff I am trying to release from childhood and it is really doing some wild stuff on me. I have had a some #1 moods though so it isnt all bad. I have alot of other stress in my life right now too so that doesnt help. I am releasing lots of anger and it comes off like I have got a major attitude cuz I can get set off kinda easily if someone steps on my foot. I used to just move out of the way not sure if this is good or bad I think it is a bit of both.

Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?

Havent really been depressed as much as I have just been kind of deep and dark at times. I have really noticed changes in my creativity I have to be expressing myself as much as possible.

Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if applicable)?

Actually I have gotten much better than I was pre-K I was deeply depressed from lack of direction and feeling empty. Now I definately dont feel empty or w/out direction and goals.

**********
I gotta say that for quite a while now I've been in the #1 zone.

The mood swings is something that was not different at the beginning of my K process and for most of it. But for a good six months now, maybe because of my #1 zone, if I look closely at my relationships I would tend to think that it has been better lately. And when they do arise now, it's generally in situations where justice is an issue (something that can really set me off). One thing I have noticed is how I deal with the mood swings. First of all, they don't bug me as they would have before, I just don't seem to mind so perhaps I'm noticing them less now. Secondly, when I let myself be outspoken when they happen, I really don't seem to care at all anymore about the consequences in the sense that if speaking my truth means risking pissing off somebody I don't mind at all. Who cares what others may think or say about me as a consequence. The only concern I have though is to really be careful I don't harm anyone if I sense this might happen by being so outspoken now.

> It's a 2 !
The first time after my K-awakening it was a 1.

> Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?
Not often, only if something is happening against my feelings of Justice !

> Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if applicable)?
No, as a matter of fact less than in earlier times.
But also becoming older (and hopefull wiser) is a great help..

********
Between 1 and 2 but it's taken a long time to get there. Used to be very moody. The long term process for me has meant very gradually becoming quite naturally more in control of moods (and I mean natural rather than it being a matter of willing yourself to feel better). If I'm on a downer it's not overwhelming and doesn't last long, unlike the bad old days.

> Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?

Used to yes - terrible. Plus 6 depressive breakdowns which is a separate category of experience I think.

> Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if applicable)?

I was a normal boring stable kid till K awoke. K made me moody!

**********
> I am in 1 and 3 ..... most of the time.

> Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?
Yes, I do..... less each time. I hope LOL !!!

> Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if applicable)?
Yes, I have for sure !!!! deeper, yes

**********
I place myself at a 2. but I do tend to osillate between a 2 and a 3. I tend to leen towards a 3 when I think to much about things

I have mood swings quite a bit. It's usally from a state of contenment to questioning and of lossing control over something I really never had control over in the first place (but thought I did). I don't get upset or angry easily, but it tends to be a wierd inbetween state. What is a mood anyways and what controls it. I though it was me, that everyone could control there own mood, but if thats true then why is there so much unhappiness and sadness in the world. Is there really any control? Is k in control?

-Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if applicable)?

To tell you the truth I am not sure if I am k awake. Sometimes I think that maybe I am, because of the energy I feel, the blocks, everything happening to my body. I am not sure, I have always kinda asked myself these questions... k helps to address certain questions I have, and meditation has helped me in so many ways.

Thanks to all for this list!

I'm: 2. generally happy and content / 3. Somewhere in between

-Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?

--Yeah, day to day. Like happy go lucky one day, and completely out of it going, "So this is life????" the next.

-Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if applicable)?

--Well, I can't pinpoint or verify my awakening. I think I've been the way I am for a while. *laughs at himself* But I've been happier since learning about K I think.

**********
most of the time it seems I am somewhere inbetween, lately that is, for about the past month or so now.

before that I was a roller-coaster ridin' K chick, lol! Very seldom, if ever in the inbetween, usually either very low or very anxious.nervous over just about EVERYTHING.

*******
on a happy scale 2 generally happy and content

do u often have fairy mood swings........no

have you changed mood or swings since k awak...no

********
My answer would be between 1 and 2, usually externally factors, would be a major influence, on mood swings. Mood swings would be of a depressive nature. With pressures of life constantly bombarding us, it would be hard to say if like was any different after my divine expereince ( 6 years ago) never to be repeated, tried some grounding techniques but alas have failed, however, felt much more relaxed............no warmth no sensation of tingling. Will try at the weekend again, perhaps I will be more receptive.till the next time

Where would you place yourself on the following scale
1.

Do you often have fairly wide mood swings?
no

Have you changed mood or mood swings since k awakening (if applicable)?

yes - The worry and fear thoughts went away, which were what created my negative e-motions. (When the dark clouds go away, there is nothing left but light.) Everything is just alright now. :-)
