Angelique said is best, but I'd like to elaborate on a similar point.
We create gods out of our fear, out of our sense of separation from all
that is. The reason for this is our innate need to reconcile seemingly
incompatible phenomena -- pain, death, and suffering on one hand; and joy,
life, and bliss on the other. This is the essence of tantric practice and
in many ways what Kundalini does. It forces the fusion of these elements,
such that we see all sides, all the time.
The God One Man Alone insists he is not, insists we all are not, is the God
of his fears. Anger borne of fear, fear borne of the anticipation of
pain. Pain which in some measure is endemic to existence in this place
because it lends balance to the equation. Pain will exist. Fear, anger,
and our mental constructs of separation and suffering are not required to
balance the equation. They exist because we insist they exist.
What One Man Alone laments is the death of his god, for as he nears a
full-on awakening he cannot ignore the fact that his God and his Devil are
one in the same. What One Man Alone fears most is that when he looks in
the mirror, he sees both in his eyes.
Unfortunately, even as he resists against the notion, the two must become
one, and will. Kundalini will see to it. It must obey its nature, and One
Man Alone must evolve.
