Dear Allan
I know exactly how you feel when you speak going right off the volt meter!
Sometimes I've felt like I'm all over the place in a big mess. And I know it
can be hard to find grounding! Roseiro's suggestions about tantra are
really good, if you feel it's something for you. =)
I'll give you some suggestions myself, more based on my yoga background.
The one thing that always works in the end is of course to surrender to the
process, to Cosmos, to Goddess, or whatever you prefer to call it. There
are tools and tecniques that can really help in this process however.
Actually, most of these tecniques were created ONLY for this purpose, not as
ends in themselves as they are often practiced.
Grounding.
Angelique Serpent's grounding meditation is a good one, and has helped me
significantly (I begin and end each of my yoga sessions with this)
http://www.kundalini-teacher.com/ meditations/grounding.html
Karma yoga is also something that helps a lot with grounding. In fact, it is
all about grounding. Karma yoga is very simple. It's all about being
completely present in what you are doing, wheter you are driving a car,
singing or cleaning dishes. It's working completely in the present, and not
focus on the results that may come later. It helps centering the mind and
grounds energy. The more earthly and physical things you do, the better.
I've found this to have had a tremendous effect in my life. Some say that
you have to do Karma yoga in service to others, but to be honest, from my
own experience, what matters is that you are focused in the present and on
the task at hand, and surrender the results to divinity.
Channeling of that depressive energy.
I've experienced depression at times, but have never been on medication for
it, so I can't really say much for or against that particular aspect. I will
stress one thing. It IS energy, and it can be led to flow in many different
ways and forms.
Singing/Chanting with devotion is an amazing tool to get the energies
flowing. If you are not interested in mantras or kirtans (which are
incredibly powerful) sing your own favourite songs, In the shower, while
walking, while cleaning.. Improvise, let the voice come naturally. If we are
afraid to sing, it often means we are not letting something within us to
fully flow. The Goddess absolutely loves singing.
Art. I've grown up with an open channel for music and other arts, so it is
natural that I bring this one up. If you have any sort of creative activity,
music, painting, drama, dancing, making soap, gardening (Doesn't have to be
what is typically "labeled" as art. Anything can be art) Pour your heart and
soul into this activity, express it with joy and passion.
General stuff.
If you want to get into energy work there are numerous ways to do this, yoga
and tantra have a lot of different ways and techniques to offer. Hatha yoga
works with the body, making it more conductive and open to higher amounts of
energy. Kundalini yoga brings gradual awakening by the different chakras
(psychic centers) Kriya yoga is the concious performing of energy kriyas
(very good if you have some background in hatha yoga) There are numerous
books on the subject, but nothing beats a good teacher! Trust me, I've done
both books and teachers... Reiki is a very easy form of energy management
and doesn't require years of training and skills, when you take a Reiki
attunement you automatically open up the energy flow, which flows even
better when you use it to work on yourself and others. (Incredibly
fascinating. I've taken the first attunement and planning on taking the
second later in the fall) If you feel more like moving, I've heard that both
tai-chi and chi-gong are good, but I have no experience with them.
I feel you are definitely on to something!
With love and sincerity
Gustaf
