Wouldn't that create an infinite loop, keeping on pushing the button then
coming back and pushing the button.

Yup, but only if I had the option to return with the no memory of any
details of the godhead.

It is possible that we already made this choice before we incarnated into
this life.

If we got there and saw that we belonged there now, we could stay.
If with the wisdom of the godhead we saw that we chose to come here
under conditions that we did, we may come back to finish what we started.
