I feel like this about my home, and as my DH and I have worked to renovate
it, (it is 400 years old) and replace rotten floors and walls, we have used
old oak beams from demolished buildings, each one has its own atmosphere and
soul and adds something individual to the whole feel of the place, we put in
old doors that are solid and real wood. They are classed as fire doors as
they resist burning for the required time.
Modern doors are filled with corrugated card...CARD...between reconstituted
(I call it regurgitated!) board panels on each side!!
Plasterboard is not only unnaturally flat and soulless, it is gypsum held
together by cardboard sides. More cardboard! I prefer to plaster the walls
myself.
Who wants a cardboard house?
Home feels like a quiet comforting presence, a living thing... and I feel at
peace in it. it is a safe place to hibernate in during the winter months.
