It depends on the type of spiritual sadhana.

Some approaches leave the subconscious unresolved
But, recommend ascent to the higher planes
and anchoring oneself there.

Some others resolve the subconscious first.
This is done by quietening the consciousness.
Waiting for the descent of the Force.
Which purifies the subconscious.
Then, the merger of the Ida and Pingala into the Sushumna.
Then, the safe and irreversible ascent.
In the second, the subconscious becomes Light.
Then, it is purged of all traits.
