I just got back from a 5 day walk in the high country. WoWzers! It blows
me away every time I go up there. Deer came into my camp one night and
just hung out. Maybe a cougar lurking about, or perhaps they were hoping
for a salty treat? Strange, but really beautiful. Then a blue jay ("camp
robber") showed up one morning, and after I shared my granola bars with
him(/her?), he sat on a branch two feet in front of me and whispered the
most beautiful song I have ever heard. I've engaged in call and response
exchanges with birds before, but this guy spent like 15 minutes singing
his song to me. I wish I could have understood the precise meaning - it
was a beautiful, complex, non-repetitive song. My heart chakra lights up
like a torch when I think about it. What a crazy, beautiful world...
I'm grateful and happy. Hope you are, too. Birds are sacred creatures.
