Its usually a very fine dot about a pixel wide if not smaller, pure bright
white when I have my eyes opened, and bright bluey when closed, and usually
appears when I am really focused in my work, or when I am watching telly and
feeling really relaxed.
I also every now and again bigger lights that move across my vision these
are usually white or red or yellow or a mixture of the three.

Dear Ranbir,
This is classically what happens with "floaters." see
http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/sym/seeing_lights.htm
Flashing lights are also associated with migraine.

Of course it could be the blue pearl! ;) But that too might disappear if
one looks too hard for it!
