In my experience, many people who create "new" systems of reiki, do so
out of ego and are not actually spiritually advanced enough to do so well.
Their karmic limiting beliefs get encoded into the initiation, and passed
on to the initiate.
Recently I got some private mail from someone asking my opinion about an
event they had witnessed: the owner of a Kundalini reiki list made some
excuses then disappeared after a few initiates noticed energy being sucked
out of their root chakras after they were initiated by him...
The question was whether root chakra sucking is a normal side effect of
Shaktipat.. it isn't, Shakti is not controllable in that way... but I have
observed many odd and limiting side effects from newer forms of reiki.
When requested, I remove reiki symbols, and implants from other sorts of
initiations, while doing a tummo initiation, and clients report feeling
lighter...

Umm... most people don't understand what reiki really is.
Break the word into two Rei Ki. Ki is Chi, or prana, sky energy. Chi is
infinitely moldable, controllable and can be encoded with intentions and
directed. Reiki symbols are simply implants that direct how chi flows in
the body.
Obviously, they are not the only way to direct chi, every form of
martial arts and innumerable systems of healing, plus most forms of magic,
like Wicca or Golden Dawn have their own methods and sometimes chi is right
in the name: Tai Chi, Chi Gong, rei-ki... etc.
Reiki is not necessary. The ability to channel chi is naturally built
into the human system, we do it whenever we share love, give someone a hug
or think of them warmly. Kundalites naturally outgrow reiki, which is a
duality based system when we evolve into nondual perception. The implanted
symbols become blockages.
Reiki is an artificial system, created by humans. Putting any sort of
implants into the body results in them becoming limits or blockages as the
individual evolves along the spiritual path. My preference is for
initiations that are natural, that use no symbols but simply follow the
natural flow and inherent potential of the human vessel.
The grounding, is simply imagining the energy flowing the way it is
meant to, a reset to factory design. The essential pattern of the flow is
ancient and universal as children pretending to be a tree.
Kundalini Shaktipat and Serpent Fire Tummo initiations simply spark
potential into action. Wake the serpents, light the fires. Everyone has
sleeping serpents, except those whose K snakes are already awake. Many
people get Tummo heat as a natural part of their awakening, and the Tummo
itself is an inborn ability that we lost when we evolved into using fire
and wearing clothes.
It goes back to when we were sea monkeys. Not much is known about this
phase of human evolution, from the archaeological record, but it shows in
how we are shaped. Unlike other monkeys, we are hairless and have a layer
of fat under the skin, like cetaceans... whales and dolphins. Our remaining
hair grows in a flow pattern starting at the crown of the head, and newborn
babies already know how to swim. Some are born with webbed toes.
Reiki symbols may have an expiry date, that would be a good thing, in
my mind, but it hardly means that chi or the 4th dimension will disappear.

I think it was about the sun and earth energies...
The grounding mixes the energies, when the focus is on the sun and earth
energies empowering the heart chakra. This alchemy is natural and quite
universal. It can also to be found in a Tibetan meditation where the sky
energy is seen as blue and the earth energies as red, and they mix in the
heart.
