much is made of ego with context to spirituality.
confused with the 'arrogant belief' assumed by the
sense perception of itself when ignorance is affluent.
as reality dawns, and one becomes more and more
conscious and aware of the other, verbally
unconveyable, dimension, the grip of ignorance begins
to loosen. But it is never truely destroyed. The
destruction of ego is just a conceptual way of
explaining the direction of the goal, for as long as
"life" lasts, identity lasts and as long as identity
lasts ego lasts. its magnitude is only relative. As
long a man *percieves* god as an other, identity
exists. Ego exists. It is only when the self merges
with the infinite brahman, or sunya , the ego and
identity are destroyed.and one realizes everything in
the universe is one and it is that. This can never
occur,( esp in the limiting confines of mortal body).
If it does it is delusion.
As one progresses to it we reach closer and clser to
it but can never really reach it. that can be reached
only at the time of mahapralaya.
When the body is still dependent on the organs for
survival, senses for direction,and as we live inside
mortal bodies, we r noway close to destruction of ego/
identity.
desirelessness in material sphere is just a change in
the needs of man, Just like a boy might lose interest
in waatching T.V and graduates to doing something more
stimulating as his intellect grows, like wise
stupidity in material stimulation dawns and a desire
for something different occurs, and thus a man
advances and evolves in spirituality. It is only the
existance of desire that will lead to the infinite,
and it will continue to lead and the journey goes on
till mahapralaya . That is far far far away from
mortal confines. all we can hope is to achieve
liberation so we can continue on this journey towards
the goal rather than being stuck up in an endless
cycle.
