So from my understanding of what you are saying, k is an internal and
personal energy, and reiki practisioners are conduits for the spirit world,
and the universal. That would make perfect sense, I have a very dear friend
who is very spiritual indeed and she is reiki activated, but her energy was
coming from the her top energy centres not the lower ones and it caused her
to become ungrounded, I on the other hand have always had my energy released
up through the lower ones, so in effect we used to balance each other out.
(Luckily she met a spiritual healer in Australia who was able to help her
out :)
I also read somewhere in a reiki book that the first person to be activated
had energy transferred from the universal to his brow, this would also link
reiki energy externally. It would also make sense as I have been able to
copy what she can do by transferring energy directly from my brow, and crown
to my hands.
Of course the problem I have found has been marrying the two together, I've
always been kind of an extremes person, so it's been difficult for me to
blend the two. The k pushes up and the universal wants to come down. Its
been difficult getting heaven and earth to shake hands. What I've found is
if I meditate on a point in directly behind my heart I am able to merge the
two together and release them as one

Typically reiki activation (from my experience) is where the body (etheric)
is 'attuned' to the universal (chi / ki etc.) energy. It becomes a receiver
for it and there are symbols placed inside oneself to facilitate reiki
energy work.
K or Kundalini is a different energy (some describe as the God Force or
Primal Energy). I would describe it as a higher (even the highest) vibration
and more powerful than reiki in it's effect to transmute a person out of
their fear based illusion.
