This reminds me of Julian of Norwich's idea that "sin" will turn out to
be a good thing, that God makes it happen for our ultimate good.
But we shouldn't get stuck in wordplay. "Karma" is just another word for
"Reap what you sow." It shouldn't be seen as some senseless system of
retribution. There are consequences to doing wrong, but if you can
really change from the traits that made you mess up in the first place,
they shouldn't be necessary anymore.
There are plenty of ways to find a challenge. Art, study, meditation,
even friendly forms of conflict (chess, go, etc.) We may still have
trouble, but we don't need trouble for entertainment once we know of
other possibilities.
