I partly agree. However, I am certain that this latent
functionality of the brain must have some significant
purpose if only in a sense that a yawn or a sneeze
does. Perhaps these states and Kundalini as well are
some very ancient software that is embedded into the
human neural system and we are accessing it by
punching in the correct codes. Certain aspects of the
Kundalini remind me of a self-test/diagnostic cycle
with the automatic yoga, vocalizations, etc.
It has been also been observed that psychedelics
exhibit plateaus in their dose-response curves. The
psychedelics in particular seem to exhibit several
distinct phases or stages of activity- in contrast to
substances such as opiates, which display a nearly
linear increase in activity with increasing dosage.
Perhaps these plateaus are pharmacologic analogs to
the proposed phases/stages/levels of mystical
experience. No one is certain why these particular
drugs behave this way. But perhaps they could be
turning on the same regions or functions of the brain
as Hillary posited above - just using a different
access key.
