I think he meant, the yoga group he is attending... :)
Rock and bottom and boom... jeez, I am tired of this cynicism! Talk to
elderly people, they say life is sooooooo much better than it used to be!
Especially in the west. Health care, medicine, workers rights, welfare,
central heating, refrigeration, transportation, human rights, freedom of
religion...
True, not all of the world has these benefits, yet... but change is
happening.
I have sorted through a lot of ideas about why it appears that K
awakening is occurring at an accelerated rate. I'm not sure that it really
is, or whether we just hear about it more because of the communications
revolution... of which this list, and the internet in general is a prime
example.
If it is accelerating, I think the simple answer is *leisure time*. Used
to be in the old days, people would pursue spirituality when they retired.
Once the children were grown and they became too old to work, then it was
time to enter the monastery or convent and prepare for death. Before that,
there was simply no time. Most folks worked hard from dawn till dusk, and
life span was so much shorter.
Things we take for granted, like an 8 hour work day and days off, were
unheard of, less than 100 years ago. Central heating, indoor plumbing, how
many of us on this list literally have to chop wood and carry water? My
parents did... they are 80 years old. They remember the "dirty 30's", their
parents survived the Spanish influenza of 1918, 1/5 of the worlds
population was infected and millions died.
"Rock bottom" is so very subjective. What we might consider "bottom"
is health, wealth, leisure and convenience that King Solomon with all his
riches could never have dreamt of... enough, to allow average folks the
leisure time to pursue spirituality!
