Perhaps because you wanted to attach to it, thinking it was permanent?
Change is the only constant. Go with the flow, high and low tides, planet
keeps spinning into the spiral of the seasons.
Too much peace or bliss, we get bored and stop appreciating it.
Variation gives it freshness.

The story goes... a King asked all of his wise men, for something that
would make him happy when he felt sad, and sad when he felt happy.
Why he wanted this, is not included in the story... ;) Maybe he was
bipolar and sought a middle path...
The wise men told him to remember, "This too, shall pass".
The vet tells me that the surgery went very well, and my snake will be
fine. The flannel was too soft to damage her innards, although apparently
it contained some teeth that she broke off, swallowing it. They will grow
back.
Time to go plant some lily bulbs, then pick her up from the vet.
