Dear Anne,
My view is that liniage is a way of authenticating awakening from one
generation to another however if a master does not fully awaken his diciples
the succeding generations are simply well learned of the Techniques and
Dogma of their individual system. Learning requires a great commitment of
time and effort and all learned beings are, if their actions on the earthly
plane warrent it, due respect.
If you are open and ready for the experience of a divine being You
will feel the pressense as a deep sensation of peace and love. If you do
not feel this then either you are not ready or the master is a pretender.
Liniage is not a garrantee of enlightment and if they say that they are the
only path I advise running. An enlightened being is a human as are you.They
relize their oneness in the universe and if that isn't enough to give them
humility then they have indeed missed the essense of enlightment and the
only lesson from them is to learn not to be taken by them. A demand of
reverence is suspect, as an enlightened person respects where you are in
your process and does not need you to boost his ego. A truly enlightened
being does not have rigid beliefs as beliefs are traps of the ego. You have
divine spirit as your essense, no more nor less then an enlightened being,
who simply has understood his/her divinity and by fully allowing that
understanding is not seperate from that understanding therefore he /she is
Divine Love. How you show your respect should be your gift in appreciation
for the effort this person has made in allowing ego to become the divine
will, and not personal reward.
