Yes. The Dao symbol looks like a bird's eye view of a double helix...
or more poetically, a serpent double helix, with one eye of each serpent
showing.

I've had that experience... very cool!

My feeling is that he is probably also awakened, and in meeting you
both gave each other some Shakti that is pinging on your shared history,
via resonance.

purposes. .
