Hi Hillary,
Thanks for your post! You are right about the furtherance of "unification"
with self.
So often we hear about and also enjoy the experience of "oneness with all".
I remember my first taste of this. It was whilst I was out walking and
looking down I saw a clump of grass. A switch was turned on and I became the
grass and the earth and the rolling hills, the sky and all that it existed
within it. The feeling lasted for days and I was a part of all the people I
met and I could hear their thoughts and know their most intimate selves.
This consciousness has variously come and gone over the years with differing
levels of intensity. When I had my K awakening I saw a vision of God. What
the vision showed me was that we are all cells in the body of God or the
Source, the One. Just like our bodily cells live and die to be replaced with
other cells, so do we as individuals, live and die and function as the cells
in the body of the Source.
Ever read those stories about how people change with an organ transplant and
begin to have attachments to things they were never interested in before.
Like the young girl who received an organ from the bikie and developed a
strong attachment to motor bikes etc. Each cell is the mind as well as the
body!
Just like all our bodily cells have an individual awareness, we also have a
collective awareness. As our ego consciousness diminishes, instead of losing
our individual awareness and being left with nothing, unification allows us
to slough dependency on individual consciousness and become more aligned
with the expanded awareness of Self. Moving back through the "family tree"
that I mentioned is about embracing Self beyond the limited perspective we
have of individual self to become integrated into that "oneness of all".
Think of embryogenesis and Kundalini directing the cell division and
creating the human fetus to be the baby that is born and functions
throughout infancy to old age. The cells divide and create yet the
consciousness of each new cell also contains the consciousness of each "old"
cell. Just as we multiply dna through our family lineage we multiply
consciousness to which we ultimately return (or so I believe).
My experience with my cousin is the manifestation of that process of going
back into the core cell from which we came and releasing some of the
subjectivity of just "I""Me" and "mine". I see this process as the journey
to the One through the surrender of the ego. Afterall, I see the ego as just
the accumulated layers of karma, action, reaction, attachment and
expectation that results from living and experiencing. Moving beyond the ego
is moving away from the attachment we have to our expectations which result
from our past experiences.
We are connected aren't we? Our intuition shows us. Just as two people must
be ready and conditions must be perfect for conception to occur and birth to
result, so two must conditions ie souls be ready willing and able to
surrender to a "reunion" or merging that is going to result in some release
of the individual ego and an embracing of the greater "One" on a more
sustained basis than mere fleeting feelings of unity.
This is unification with Self, not unification with self.
