What a beautifully written and insightful post, thank you! A couple of years
ago, I attended a conference where the pianist Lorin Hollander spoke of his
being a prodigy and of his bouts of mania -- he felt the two were aspects of a
single gift. He didn't use the word kundalini (this was a conference of
mental health professionals) but he described all the manifestations of awakening
to spiritual heights. He felt completely blessed by his life, even with all
the difficulties of highs and lows and mentioned repeatedly that his "illness"
allowed him to reach spiritual vistas he wouldn't have otherwise. I remember
his talk often during my own peaks and valleys. I, too, think the kundalini
mood swings are a function of the body-mind having to handle outsized energies.
