Dear All

I read the postings on autumn.
Indeed, the glory of autumn for spiritual practices
has been recorded in Hindu scriptures

It is stated that Lord Siva's consort was born once on the earth
After coming of age, she grew in longing for realisation of Lord Siva.
She did severe penance in the autumn season.
Then, Lord Siva appeared and taught Her
what to worship and what is beyond worship.

This is described by Sage Tirumular in His Tirumantiram 65.
I am posting below my translation of the same from Tamil into English

(1) There, in the season of slackening, with,
    (a) the rain abiding subsided,
    (b) the heat abiding subsided, and
    (c) the lake that abided with protectively covering settled bands of
mist slumbering, abiding subsided,
(2) Lord Siva did(!) mercy to the lady (His Divine Consort born in the Earth
and doing penance towards Him)
(3) by uttering without delay That which is worshipped and That which is the
Immutable High.
