To me it feels like the first of your 'currents of thought' is a felt
knowing.
When I look at something and get an unfaltering perception / understanding
then I am clear in that area. There is no more karma to clear.
For example it might be a relationship from a past lover. When I look and
see clutter, differing emotions and images then I know I am not seeing how
things really are but my minds junk relating to that thing. When I look and
there is no emotion or bodily feedback, but just clear view then I know.
I would say you are not part of the whole... but you are the whole....
I'm wondering if you could be inferring the middle path... Happiness could
loosely be described as fulfilment. Being filled within. Not needing, nor
resisting.
The middle path is much to do about right action. MAS writes very clearly on
this in her essay on the Power chakra and it's relation to discernment.

The body has survival instincts. As astute and attuned as we may become the
body's still home.
Interesting I have found of late that my Identities (what I am being / what
I believe I am... if I am not nothing) relate back to survival patterns and
protection of the body. I am sure there is a point where the body and spirit
can be in perfect harmony continuously. Like they are one and each other.

You don't *have* to. This is a trap unto self. It is believing you are
helping self from helping others.

Our identification and belief in their power to make us feel better from
them. It is illusion. However the body's natural tendencies should not be
ignored. Cleaning the ego reveals the body's natural instincts, moving into
harmony with the universe.

Being the puzzle is not easy to see. Alternative viewpoints and a desire to
surrender can make it sharper. In time it can be discarded.

I don't know if this makes a difference.
