Forget breathing exercises. And, unless you are a freediver, donâ™t hold
your breath. Just breathe freely. "
Dear Nina, Sam, List,
Thank you Nina for this. Change in breathing patterns is a fascinating part
of the Kundalini experience. When energy is at its most powerful I find my
breathing patterns are shallow but powerful--usually in a 3 in and 5 out
pattern. It occurs purely automatically, along with heat, and buzzing throughout the
body.
As Sam writes:
"My personal experience from qigong practice is that very gradully and
without any conscious effort nor exercise involved, breath becomes slower and
deeper."
It is not a conscious effort on my part either. I think the body does self
regulate and when K is activated it certainly seems to effortlessly govern the
breath.
Breath can be a very powerful tool and some exercises should be done with
expert instruction.
Love, Hillary
I used to practice holding my breath for long periods as a teenager while
swimming the length of my pool a couple of times.
