No shooting. :^) The psychic world, as it is taught by many Self-realized teachers, is not something that the novice wishes to embroil themselves in. It can be detrimental to one's development. This is supposedly because as one enters this realm before full self-realization is achieved, one is interpreting the information received through the filter of Mind. Mind is not the best interpreter of psychic phenomena. Better to develop the intuition center fully and come to know the highest vibration of Self before opening the doorway to the psychic world. Then proper use of the siddhis is easily determined in any situation.
This is not to say that if you enter the psychic world before you are completely Self-realized, that you will never become completely Self-realized. Several people I am familiar with have done this very thing and then continued on with their Self-discovery. But in retrospect, have all said that they wish they had not gotten involved in the "Psychic Wars" as it took them from their true path for a lengthy period of time and was difficult to extricate themselves from.
I wonder if they have paused to consider that they might not be as wise as they are if they had by-passed this level of awareness.
I have no personal experience in the matter, so currently I am forced to take other people's word for this. However, I do plan to be quite cautious in my approach the siddhi powers.
My aim is not power, but the freedom bestowed by Truth.
