Yes, I agree. My experience is that the intellect and intelligence
really are necessary on the evolutionary path. However, there does come
a "point" (as reported by many masters, gurus, swamis, etc) where these
tools are no longer necessary, and then they fall away naturally like
petals on a flower or leaves/fruit on a tree, since their function has
been fulfilled.

In general, the attacks on the intellect are usually a distortion of the
above natural occurrence (where the "point" has not yet arrived or is a
long way off), or where they just don't have enough of it themselves in
the first place.

One of the key features of a human is the power of moral, ethical, and
philosophical discrimination. Discrimination is merely one aspect of
the intellect. Clearly, "Blind Faith" is of no use to anyone, except
the people trying to control others.

There are also great battles between intellectual and emotional
approaches to development. My experience is to regard both as
necessary, and strive to have a balance. It may be useful to have an
image of a two stranded helix of intellect and emotion, rotating
longitudinally, as each improves and improves the other. It is
important to respect both aspects, and not attack either side just for
the sake of it or just to win a discussion.

Bhavin.
