[Bhavin Desai] Don't be too harsh. Take a similar mundane example.
When I was doing my MPhil in Mathematical Logic, I got asked by BSc
students as well as school/college students about my work. There was no
way that I could explain multi-valued functorial propositional logic to
them. When I did try, they did not understand. To paraphrase your
wording slightly, they probably felt that "it was meant to maintain the
ignorance of the public and promote mathematical dogma".
