They're shying away from the terms "childhood onset" and "adult onset" for
sure. I'm not aware of any change in the basic distinction between type-1
and type-2 however, which is basically insulin dependence and non-insulin
dependence respectively.

Which would imply that they are still producing insulin, but in an
insufficient quantity to accomodate their increased body mass -- classic
type-2.

Well, you're right in line with the latest scientific thinking. There's a
probable genetic predisposition to type-1, which at some point is triggered
into action by a virus. The immune system produces antibodies that then
mistake the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas for the virus and
destroy them. That's the theory anyway.

For what it's worth, my temperature runs subnormal, around 96.8 (interesting
trasposition of 98.6, eh?). Dunno about my core temp.
