Exactly that. When I saw them, I felt their inner nature, and it is
as I described. You can replace bliss with pure consciousness, or
existence, and it is all true.

That, which people only superficially touch when they enter samadhi,
is the thing angels are made of - the real ones, not the astral
entities people usually communicate with, thinking them to be angels.
As I said, on the higher planes of existence, evidence of the nature
of God is present everywhere - everything is made of the conscious,
blissful substance which is of God. With angels, it is the case even
more. Take a great saint, and imagine him losing the physical body,
with only his pure and holy essence remaining. Then imagine him lose
all the limitations specific to the physical plane. That will bring
you close to understanding what the angels are.
Basically, I think people underestimate enlightenment greatly. They
think a brief and shallow encounter with a higher substance to be
something unseen, and they suddenly go around speaking in riddles,
like, everything IS, I AM, One Self etc. - those things became some
sort of a spiritual lingo, on all groups and forums. One would think
the entire Internet to be brimming with the enlightened sages. :)
However, most have seen just a glimpse, and there are beings whose
innermost nature is of higher order than that, which most would call
God. When people here talk about Self, God, sat-cit-ananda, I mirror
what they mean, because they point to their experience within them.
Most of it, almost all, is mental presence accompanied with a
heightened pranic charge, which gives them a very charged, orgasmic
experience accompanied with the expansion of consciousness into the
mental substance. It's OK, mind you, it's a very good accomplishment,
but it's not a thing to become too complacent about - this is almost
as far from the final goal as the physical matter. Last week one of
my students opened the fridge to get the yogurt, and suddenly
realized that reality IS, and it hit him like a steam roller. So, do
I promote him into an enlightened Master, or do I have him keep
learning? :)
