Dear Rick,
Well, those who are K active often can perform what would seem to be
magic--things such as levitation, BI-location, healing, telepathy etc. The
energy often seems to bring with it magical properties--the most common being
the ability to heal. In the East these powers are called Siddhis
(supernatural powers). Many sages cite the dangers of using such powers.
Sri Ramana Maharshi, for instances says: p. 17 *Talks*
"The woud-be occultist...desires to display the siddhis so that others may
appreciate him. He seeks appreciation, and if it is not forthcoming he will
not be happy."
and on p. 550ff he says: "The powers are sought by the mind which must be
kept alert, whereas the Self is realised when the mind is destroyed. The
powers manifest only when there is the ego. The ego makes you aware of
others and in its absence there are no others to be seen. The Self is beyond
the ego and is realised after the ego is eliminated. ...How can the question
of others arise and where is the use of occult powers for a Self-Realised
Being?...These powers may also be sought and gained even after
Self-Realisation. But then they are used for a definite purpose, i.e., the
benefit of others...
The force of [a sage's] Self-Realisation is far more powerful than the use of
all other powers."
