Dear Susan, David & All
      Having spent some time happily ploughing through books in my persona
of a spiritual seeker. I have come to the conclusion that I know nothing.
All I can say is that it appears we live in a world of duality. So pain
gives us the chance to experience release. Un- hapiness hapiness. Others in
difficulty we can express compassion. So the good is allways inherint in the
bad. Obviously if some lunatic is about to kill this body I dont smile
sweetly and say " Get on with it then I have nothing to lose" though that
may be ultimately true. I will do all I can to evade an untimely end.
However if my death is unavoidable I would try to meet my end in a state of
surrender. otherwise I would come back to this world again seeking revenge.
Not a good idea.
Jesus was in a complete state of surrender when he died to the point of
saying
 " Forgive them for they know not what they do"
I feel that I personally have to be willing to change though I know not how
appart from surrendering to this moment in full acceptance of it, then I may
be able to do somthing positive about it.
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle points very clearly to a lot of the
answers.
