Litterally, it's the power behind the hydrogen bomb and the sun. It's the
energy released from the fusing of hydrogen atoms (the simplest and lightest
element) into helium atoms (the next element in the periodic table).

Metaphorically, I guess you can take it as the most powerful destructive
force known to man or the stable source of heat and light that sustains life
on earth. Interesting how that works out in context of this discussion,
isn't it?
