Some of you have asked about my Guru. I met, Baba Muktananda in South
Fallsburg, New York in June of 1979. He gave me His physical touch, which
awakened the Kundalini. In India, this process is called Shaktipat, the
direct bestowing of Grace by the guru on the Disciple! Being totally blind
my whole life, I had no idea of what was to happen. As the Kundalini started
her journey up the spine, I had many innumerable experiences, including
seeing my Guru's face in meditation! I'm now a disciple of His successor
Swami Chitvillasananda or Gurumayi, as we call Her. this means Guru Mother!
Sometimes I would even leave the body in meditation, walking through the
Ashram gardens with my Guru! Through these experiences, I learned to
perceive colors, so can now visualize things much easier, i.e. a painting,
when someone describes the colors. Did I need the guru? Well, if anyone out
there knows of a better way of being granted this extraordinary miracle, I'd
like to hear about it! Without my Guru's Grace, I would have gone through my
entire life, not knowing what it is like to see. I would never have known
the beauty of watching a sunset, seeing someone smile, or flowers in full
bloom! This gift of Kundalini is truly priceless!
