Hello Everyone and Shelle
If you are interested in science then I suggest you research the
science of the mind and enlightenment. There are many very good
scientist who research this stuff. The results of the research are
mind-blowing. When you look at the data you begun to understand that
even though most people believe the mind and brain to be mechanistic
the current state of the art in science does not hold this up.
In studies on human physiology is has been shown that yogis can alter
the temperature of their finger by 10 degrees. It has been shown that
they can at will stop their heart beating. That they can in freezing
temperatures thaw a wet blanket in 20 minutes placed on their naked
shoulders. This has all been well documented. Energy healing had been
documented at Walter Reed laboratory. It was shown conclusively that
having an energy healer work on cells in a petri dish increases their
calcium uptake by 20% above baseline (in hundreds of trials).
It has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the mind can
influence the outcome of random number generators. It has been shown
that the mind often reacts 3 seconds before an event actually happens.
It has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that people can know what
other people are thinking.
This kind of phenomena is not understandable from a mechanistic view
however quantum theory seem to support these kind of things. In
Quantum mechanics there is a theory of non-locality. In non-locality
it is shown that even though particles are at great distances from one
another, affecting one, instantly affects the other. This is believed
to be true by main stream physicists.
Many scientists who study quantum mechanics believe that consciousness
is necessary and essential for the universe to exist. In fact I heard
that at a recent conference of physicists in NY city consciousness was
the main topic of interest.
So my suggestion to you is that if you worry about science not backing
this stuff up please do your home work. Study the work of Dean
Radin for effects of the mind on the material world and on other
minds. Study Rupert Sheldrake for studying the effects of minds on
other minds, human and animal. Study Herbert Benson among others for
the effects of mind on the body, one´s own and on others. Study the
energy healer Mietek Wirkus. He is one of the most thoroughly
researched energy healers in the world. There is much scientific
evidence to back up his work. Including the fact that he can
generate 220 Volts of electricity. All this has been documented and
written up in scientific peer reviewed journals. Then there are
volumes of work on the Near Death Experience.
So do not say that science does not back this stuff up. Instead say
that your current acceptance of the old scientific paradigm generally
accepted by most people does not back this stuff up. I wish you well
on your journey. Everywhere there are nay sayers and those who would
prefer to live (and you to live) in the unhappy boring known rather
than explore the amazing boundlessness of the mind. So take heart and
do your home work. The vastness of the universe is calling you to
adventure. Heed the call and explore this amazing universe (from the
cosmos to the inner realms of your soul) using all tools available to
you, both the scientific method and your intuition
