I'm not sure why this would be a surprise to anyone... any experience
has to be filtered through the physical brain before it can be expressed in
WORDS... unfortunately a LOT is lost in that attempt at translation.
Supernatural, paranormal, mystical, magical, spiritual, kundalini
experiences are NORMAL... it's just that most folks aren't used to them, and
when it happens for them, there is the attempt to fit the "experience" into
a familiar cubby hole in an attempt to maintain their grip on their previous
concept of reality, or to think themselves as somehow "special", (the ego's
attempt at maintaining it's grip). But still, when all is said and done, I
don't think that a detailed understanding of physiology will be able to
explain what it MEANS to live in SILENT LIGHT... at best it might be able to
say why it "feels" a certain way, why certain words or phrases are used in a
sad attempt to talk about it, or even find the chemical\mechanical means of
stimulating the same "sensations"... but in the end, does it really matter
what we "think" about it? IT is, regardless of what we think, and it's true
"meaning" will remain as ineffable as it is now...

After I had posted the first message I got the March copy of Scientific
American and on page 25 there is an article by Michael Shermer on this very
