Hiya,
I have been a member of this group before. I believe that
my member name was Rich30777.
I got sidetracked from my spiritual goals for a while, but I am trying to make a comeback...
If you wanna know my story then read on...
!! Warning.. I got carried away so its a tad long !!
I was self employed doing a at home Internet related job and all
was going well because I had a ton of time to meditate.
Like all good things, it came to an end. Business was WAY
down... and then 9-11 hit.... I think that was the final blow...
however a ton of online businesses where failing as well..
The big dotcom bust.
I did have a decent government job before my online business
started booming... and I had quit to become a full time
webmaster. That was a very dumb move.
I tried looking for work.. however with the economy doing bad
I was not having much luck. I spent hours everyday in deep meditation and prayer focused on finding a job. I was about to loose everything I owned... which would not have bothered me except I have a wife and two kids... they have this weird need
for a roof over their head.
I finally found a job in the environmental field... yeah I know
it sounds like an easy job but it wasn't. I was basically a construction laborer. We worked on a lot of environmental clean up work such as waterblasting, cleaning up of chemical spills.. or anything else that nobody else wanted to do.. so they hired us.
The pay wasn't enough but I could make ends meet if I worked a ton of overtime, that's basically how everyone in that industry survives.
Well... I ended up blowing that job. I soon found out that I am not as young as I was and working hard labor 70 hours or so a week was killing me.
Back to the drawing board... and the job situation was not
getting any better.
I went back to my meditation and prayer and hoped for the best.
In the meantime I had been trying to get my old government
job back without much luck. The union president told me himself
that he didn't think I had a chance.
I happened to bump into somebody from my old job who was
upper management but had retired. I told him about
my trouble I was having getting my job back. He had me call
someone to tell them to call him. Within 24 hours I got a call
saying that my paperwork was being drawn up for my return to work and that I should be back to work in about 2 weeks.
So ya see.. prayers really do get answered. Not only
did I get my job back but I didn't loose any seniority...not even for
the 3 years I was off... wow.
So now I have been back to work for 7 months and things are going well work wise. I am making okay money, .. but with a house note and two hungry kids
I still must work overtime to make ends meet.
This leaves very little time for meditation, also with my work schedule its hard to find a good time to meditate.. where there
is not a lot of niose.
I didn't realize how good I had it when I worked at home.
It is very easy to get sucked into the material world when
you are spending you're time working and worrying about money.
It didn't take long before I was back into my old ways of drinking
beer and eating steak and doing a whole lot of sinning
in general.
So here I am agian, trying to get all my little duckies in a row.
I guess I am lucky because whenever I am sidetracked I am always able to pick up where I left off rather quickly.
I have spent a lot of today thinking about what my diet
is gonna be like now... and since its fat tuesday tonight
I eat my final meat dinner.
Well.... thats where I have been for the last year or so when I quit
posting.
