Niklas,
The fact that you have thought about a) and b) below indicates, to me,
that you will intelligently choose the right balance for your own
particular circumstances, since everyone has different requirements.
There is very little overhead required in the Kundalini development
process. What you need will be automatically provided and what needs to
happen will automatically occur. I have many such examples.
I also felt similarly about "pre-conceived notions" and "actualising
concepts" from books and other people. The issue is not really about
"becoming a Kundalite". The process is not like joining a club or
society, it is more like the transition from caterpillar to butterfly
(or choose your own favourite transition or transformation in Nature).
It is a completely Natural process, and it does not even need to be
given a name, if you find that to be more comfortable.
It is very difficult to deny the Kriyas, etc, especially if they are
happening directly to you!!! Since you declare yourself to be a
"western-intellectual", the book by Sannella will be more useful to you
in the first instance.
What you want in terms of "nothing" is attainable. Patience and
relaxation produce the best results.
Bhavin.
