I'm not clear here - do you mean that her past was too
superficial, or that you were being too superficial in
not considering that she may have had a complicated
past? Was her past something that could be worked
through given enough time or was she maybe not patient
enough or not ready enough to do that? (I guess I'm
confused, probably just the words getting in the way,
because you don't strike me as a superficial person,
and I don't know what a 'superficial' past means.)

Yes, sometimes that is the price, isn't it? But seems
like something that Goddess is presenting you both, so
maybe something that *needs* to be gone through? At
least that is how I look at it. (And sometimes wading
through *their* issues is the same thing as wading
through our own issues, from my experience.)
