Hi Shankar,
The correct Sabbath day, according to the Augustinian calendar we go by is Saturday.
Christ is said to have risen from the tomb on the first day of the Jewish week which is Sunday.
At some point in the history of the Catholic church, the day for church attendance was set for Sunday. I too would be interested in hearing from anyone who knows when or how this happened exactly.
If you ask most Christians what day is the Sabbath day, they will tell you Sunday. It is mere confusion about the Sabbath as opposed to the day for church attendance, celebrating Master Jesus' return from the dead. There are several protestant sects that recognize Saturday as the Sabbath. They are small here in America and generally considered to be somewhat "radical".
Master Jesus also said, "The sabbath was created for man, not man for the sabbath."
Sincerely,
Jason B
