I know. You were the anonymous someone i was referring to.

Thanks.

I know.
Theoretically, according to the enormous manual, this list server program has a no-mime option.
However...
a) That aspect of the list configuration is beyond my abilities. The host provider has kindly made list setup easy by creating a web form where you click on radio buttons to choose the type of list, options, but the no-mime option is not included among them.. and the manual does not explain how to get around it. I think it is via SSL BUT my knowledge of how to use SSL is inadequate for the task... and I am a little scared of trying, lest I accidentally delete the list, altogether.
b) If I do manage to access it and change it so the list only accepts plain text messages, it will completely refuse all styled or html messages, return to sender. The styled posts will bounce. I'm not sure that is an improvement.

Right. So, is it better that new users who try to post get frustrated because all their efforts to post to the list get returned..? Or is it better that members learn send plain text?
There is another option... and that is for the digest members who are affected by it, to change their outlook viewing options... then the rest of us can post as we like!
That would be my preferred option. No more nagging.
However, jlb and others descriptions of how to adjust outlook are confusing to me. If someone (an outlook user) can edit this info into simple directions, I will happily add them to the list guidelines.
Assuming people will actually read the guidelines. Heh... that may be hoping for too much.
For example: I have two autoresponder robots set up on the website, to send out subscribe information and the moderators address, and there are instructions to send a BLANK EMAIL to get information, because no human will see the post... actually, I do see the posts, because the robot sends me a copy... and 50% of people who write to the robot, send their comments instead of a blank post. Getting people to follow even the simplest instructions, is like trying to herd cats.

Yes, it can.
