But to the extent that might be true, my own experience has been that it has fragmented that which was not in concert with my deepest Self. But perhaps that's not where you're going, because you suggest spirit mending - and "egoic narrative" doesn't seem like what you might want to mend. And the deepest Self doesn't need mending. Or don't you agree? And the snake is of no use to what purpose?? K can cause bliss or discomfort, this is true. But from my perspective, my discomfort can ultimately be the seed of great expansion, and the seat of a deepening of compassion and human understanding. So begone ye old outworn ego patterns!

This is lovely, X. Shiva the destroyer and Shakti the creatrix working together, demolishing the old and outworn to make way for the new creation.

Every day, experiences of K. blowing things up... In my work, feeling the Tummo fire rising to burn away that which empathy has taken on, and in return come the insights, inspirations. Creative energy that I am always having to find outlets for.

How does one define spirit? I usually ask my clients what term for divinity they are most comfortable with, and use that in the work. A client recently chose "spirit" and I accepted that, but clarified with a spoken intention that the word referred to his own Divine eternal spirit, and not to any meddling ghost that might want to get involved.

The carrier for a deeper communication. I find the same. The words themselves are so easily misunderstood, interpreted differently by everyone's ears/eyes/mind... but the Shakti fire they carry, speaks its own message. Universal, and unique both at once.

The act of reading, is receptivity. I get people writing to comment on my website, some write about the words, others write of the experiences they had while reading the words. Warmth, experiences of lightness and healing, opening of intuitive insights that may not be much related to the words themselves.

I'm not much a fan of poetry, and I find Rumi to be... kind of maudlin, over dramatic... but I appreciate his spirituality.

>Rumi did not value lifting his voice to describe the indescribable, to make love to the Beloved? Hmmm, perhaps he did, perhaps he didn't. As any artist who struggles to incompletely execute their vision realizes it is never the thing.

I used to abandon my art works as soon as they diverged from the image I held in my mind... lots of unfinished work, till I learned to surrender and let the art shape itself, let go of control. Oddly, along with that, the art moved from the representative to the abstract.

I have some thoughts about the meaning of that, the why and wherefore... but little interest in making the thoughts less abstract... don't care to label or confine it with words and explanations.

I can appreciate that attitude... I think it depends on the audience. Most logical westerners like to give attention to the phenomena, explain it and look for reasons and meaning, as a way to cope with the unknown. Eventually, the unusual becomes commonplace and then there is progress beyond the fascination with miracles, synchronicity and siddhis.

I think that insisting people ignore the enthrallment is as useless and damaging as taking a child's toys away. Children learn from their play, and outgrow it in their own time. Every step along the path has its own relevance, take one step away and the journey itself is incomplete.

Jesus was a master showman, people came for the miracles, the loaves and fishes and got some preaching too.

Not everyone is interested in judging what defines genuine spirituality.

Perhaps we should take a poll, and find out what members define as "genuine."

I was reading a website today that said a "genuine" Master will never charge money or accept donations. I found that to be an odd limitation, unless they are living under a tree, as a breatharian... <shrug> It floats his boat, I guess.

whups, there is the poll... :)

I look for light behind the eyes. Sometimes, it is the gleam of madness... :)

>One of my teachers has said something along these lines: The commitment to that portion of the Path is one that happens inside your heart and independent of willfulness and ego. It will open on its own. It will open intention in your heart. The opening of makams begin to reveal itself to you.

   Lovely.
   Blessings!!
