Oh, I agree. The mental masturbation gets pretty boring.
I found the original post about seeing energy around trees very sweet and genuine. It was an honest revelation - it didn't sound like someone "trying to surround ____ with white light" or DO something based on some belief system, but rather a sort of Eureka!
And I also understood the responses about the etheric glow around shit as well - (not quite so much prana in poop perhaps *g*). But in the cuteness of the responses there was also a clear sort of machismo - "oh yeah, flowers and trees and pretty stuff is easy, but I'm so advanced / tough I can do it with the tamasic as well". Or perhaps it was another attempt to defuse the old western truth=beauty as being a bit shallow? Either of these seemed a little off the mark to me - as I found the original post was not embedded with these value judgements, but I spontaneous discovery.
But Felix! what is all of this name calling?!
