Could it be you were being escorted to Earth and that your metaphor for the
Earth experience is a Prison?

Carrying the metaphor a little further, you entered this existence with
knowledge and a sense of purpose.

Perhaps representing levels of awareness? Do you have personal significance
to the letter 4?
Seems like the rest of the dream could be an elaboration of the above
elements.

Could the man have been the embodiment of your own fears and anxieties which
