I just got off the phone to yahoo. It seems the list and my profiles were deleted because of a terms of service violation. The man I spoke to was barred from telling me what the violation was, but he said it was pretty bad, for them to delete me and the list with no warning. Kind of unfair, really. Sentenced without even knowing the charge.
I think you all know, that I have not done anything.
He also said there was no evidence of anyone messing with my account. He said there was no evidence of wrongdoing by the troll. I explained that I had sent several complaints... where did they go?
So, we need to send him evidence. I explained that I was trying to deal with him directly on the phone, to avoid dozens of people complaining to tech support, but that is not how things are done, there.
So, please forward the trolls posts to yahoo, with your complaints, particularly the ones where he was pretending to be someone else, (especially me! ) in full, with full headers and an explanation of his mischief. How to access full headers, depends on how your mail reader is set up. If you were web only, then I guess we are out of luck, aside from whatever mail the troll sent you privately.
You might want to add some nice words about me, too. My (now deleted) ids were serpent_ca and Mystressserpent.
It appears that my announcement list for FST was also deleted. Who knows why? Since I have records of all my students, that is no problem. I also downloaded copies of all my member lists yesterday.
I had a yahoogroups window open since last night, left it open because I knew once I closed it, I would not be able to get in again... so I was able to add new owners to all my other lists. Some of you may find you are now an owner of one of my lists! I added multiple owners, wherever possible, remembering some problems in the past, when I transferred the K-sex list to Susan. If you are an owner, please also make a backup copy of the member list.
Then, I got asked for my password again, and that was the end of that. Please remove me from the list you may now find yourself owning, and resubscribe me as pheonix AT_NOSPAM fire-serpent.org.
I am finding myself really glad that I did not set this list up with yahoo, again... :) I may move all the other lists elsewhere, as well... sometime. Not now.
The good news is, the troll apparently was not able to access my yahoo accounts. How he made it appear that me and the K-list had caused some horrendous violation of the yahoo TOS, is beyond me. Probably sent some child porn in my name, or something like that. I kind of wish I knew, but I also want to simply move on, rather than spend time wondering.
In the meantime, cox.net is asking for more evidence, and I need to write reassuring letters to my web providers. Busy, busy.
I have a list of everyone who ever posted to the old list, and the moderators are slowly combing through it and sending invitations. Three cheers for the moderators! Hip, hip! :) If you know of any lurkers who are not trolls, then please invite them. One at a time, I do not want this web host to accuse me of spamming!!! Yikes... and do not send invitations to any lists, yet...
I need more sleep... sigh.
