I taught T'ai Chi in an institute that also offered pilates. It's like very
slow counter-resistance calisthenics done with the aid static and moving
devices. I have not actually done pilates, but I did notice there were a
number of elderly ladies who attended regularly, several were obviously
suffering from various forms of physical disabilty. In the time I was there
I heard their conversations often and they seemed to be quite pleased with
their progress.
