   Heh. An excellent question. In the past, we have done polls on the meaning of enlightenment, we could also do a poll on the meaning of self realization, and of love. So many definitions.

   Some would say, people get enlightened easier these days coz the earth vibration is higher. Could be true, could be balderdash. Could be people are deluding themselves about their attainment... (including me!)

    The simple definition of enlightenment is en-lighten-ment. Becoming more light... which is the action of awakening itself. Self realization is realizing you are the Self. Thou art God. Simple to attain, difficult to sustain. Usually there is an arising and falling many times before there is any kind of permanence... which is not a bad thing, necessarily. Often you hear "enlightened" beings preaching some version if "I am God and you are "..." (in some way needing to change to please my idea of how God should behave) Seeing Goddess in All that Is, is an ongoing process of consciousness expansion.

    Nor does enlightenment preclude losing all emotions. Jesus tossed the traders from the temple and cursed a fig tree to death because it would not give him any figs. Yogananda's Master Yukteshwar was well known for a sharp tongue and ample use of the Master's cane. "Whack whack, enlightened yet??? No? Whack whack... "

   Muktananda had several sex scandals, Sai Baba is a notorious pedophile. Osho liked his gold and Rolls Royces... so does this mean they are not enlightened? I think, it means they are enlightened and also human.
