Speaking of weird physical effects... I mentioned before how all my
electronic equipment was acting up. This had one beneficial
consequence a few weeks ago. I went to an ATM to withdraw some
cash, and the thing hesitated for a few seconds. It finally gave me
the cash, hesitated again, and then displayed the message "sorry,
unable to process transaction". I felt a bit guilty a week or so
later, and decided to check if the transaction got recorded
(unlikely based on that message). But since I use the same ATM, and
usually withdraw the same amount, I couldn't be sure if there was a
missing transaction! Oh well, free money :)

I've been doing zazen for the past several weeks instead of Kriya
(for reasons I won't bore you with right now) and I haven't had any
new electronic problems since. However, I started noticing that
streetlights occasionally burn out when I drive by. I seem to
recall that this also happened the last time I did zazen regularly,
about ten years ago. I'm not sure what the average lifetime of a
streetlight is, but this sure seems to be more than coincidence.
For example, last night I was driving home from my brother's house,
about 2 1/2 hours after sunset, and three of them burned out, just
as I drove by. After the third one, I turned to my girlfriend and
said, "did you notice those streetlights burn out"? She just
said, "yup". She's so understated and understanding :)

Ok, I lied -- I will tell you a little about why I'm doing zazen
instead of Kriya Yoga. With zazen you don't intentionally jack-up
the energy -- only clear mind. Currently, I'm not interested in
trying to completely figure out these unusual events. It just gets
too weird and complicated. I'll make a cursory analysis, such as
with the shattering glass, because that's my nature. However, I
find if I dwell on these things, my explanations become more and
more irrational. So, I try to just observe and accept whatever
comes my way, realizing that the world is a mysterious and wonderful
place.
