Hi Laura,

Not sure if what I have to say is for you or not, but it reminded me of something similar. There's a part of me that felt more comfortable focusing my ability to love on an "object" (the psychological term) that was unavailable. First of all, it matched my experience of loving unavailable objects, and secondly, it freed me to spend a lot of psychological energy in a direction that I knew wasn't dangerous, because it wouldn't be returned. The danger was that I might get consumed. None of the above was conscious on my part. And thirdly, it allowed me to fill my head with the object so I could continually put off my real life.

These are 3 different narratives, and I accepted each one at a separate time, tho I think now, there was some truth in all of them. Take what you need and leave the rest.
