Yes, well, most intuitivists (as opposed to rationalists, about whom
you're talking) are gullible, illogical, Sanskrit-catchphrase-spouting
ninnies, but that doesn't mean that "chakras" and "karma" and "the Tao"
and whatnot don't exist. Most people, whether rationalist or
intuitivist, are too closed-minded to see that both perspectives are
needed to balance each other out. Rationalism is now integrating holism
(via chaos theory, etc) into what has traditionally been a reductionist
field, and the scientific discoveries of the past hundred years have
confirmed what many mystics have been saying since the dawn of time.
How all too human for one to condemn all paths but one's own. Agreed,
unchecked science leads to some horrible things, but I've seen enough
people fucked up by unchecked mysticism to see the correlation. Just as
some people shouldn't have access to nuclear technology until they are
ready to use it for good, some people shouldn't have access to Crowley's
teachings or a "kundalini" awakening before they are able to use them
constructively.
Hi. I'm Bryce. I joined the list yesterday, and look at me. I've
become one of those newbies who only lurks for a day and whose first
post is calling bullshit on someone. Oh, well. I was a skeptic
(despite an earnest interest in spirituality despite a lack of
experience) for a long time. I've gotten into a few arguments with
intuitivist friends who are completely uninterested in looking at things
from anything resembling a scientific perspective. Conversely, I've
been annoyed with the lack of rigour in many intuitivist fields. In the
past couple months, however, I have had a number of experiences that
have brought to life many of the teachings I've admired and understood
rationally, but not realised intuitively. Among these experiences was
(I'm 99% sure) a "kundalini" awakening, which, as many of you know, has
been a blessing, but a bit of a curse. I'm starting to suffer migraines
more and more frequently, and have been experiencing other physical and
mental problems, hence my joining this list. I should let you all know
that I can come across as an arrogant know-it-all, but I'm just
intolerant of bullshit and eager to rectify misunderstandings. Please
feel free to call bullshit on anything I say, as long as you can back it
up honestly and politely. I just want to get my shit figured out, and
help others with their shit if I can. (:
