Subject: [K-list] Who Let The Dogs Out?

?I had a somewhat strange experience today on my walk. I was in a really
good mood, happy,
anticipating the beauty of a different day, sunny and bright. As I began to
walk toward my path,
as I came to a dog, it began to bark at me, furiously. It startled me and
then I laughed. But the
owners looked at me kind of strange. You could see that they did not
understand why their dog
was barking at me. Neither did I. It continued to bark at me even as I
walked away from it.

As I looked back at them, the dog still barking away, I could see they were
also looking at me. It
perplexed me why this happened. As I moved into the path, I took off my
headphones. I suddenly
realized I was playing very high pitched music, Vivaldi's Four Seasons, to
be exact. Basically a
chamber orchestra piece, but all violins etc. That's what it was, I thought.
That dog must have
heard the high pitch. My own dog will do that to violins, but he usually
wails and howls.

Anyway, I kept walking. As the next dog approached, I tightened up a
little, wondering what
would happen. Nothing. This dog just sort of looked at me and walked by.
Whew!!! Must have
been the music. Spoke too soon, Joyce. As I am coming out of the path,
another dog, a big dog,
growls deeply at me. His owner, pulls at him/her, and the dog heels. I had
to ask, as if he were
the meany..."Gee, does your dog usually growl like that?" She shrugged her
shoulders, looked
apologetic and they went on their way.

As I finished my walk, I crossed two more dogs. Both were friendly and one
pattered up to me to
sniff. So, 2 out of 5 dogs growled and barked at me. I have never had this
happen before!!! All
the dogs were on leashes. It was clear that their owners were surprised by
the dogs' behavior. So
was I? Can anyone help explain this to me?
