I believe it was St John of the Cross who coined the phrase "the dark night of the soul". Significantly, he was talking about the light of "god" exposing to us our impurities and pains and flaws.
In that context, your distress makes perfect sense. As we stand before god, or the "fire" of kundalini, or the purging and processing of energy practices like reiki, we get in touch with all our old discomforts, unresolved issues, losses, etc. But the light will be what guides us through... or as I've read it said of meditation, the road in is also the road out. If you meditate, keep going back to your breath, if you do energy stuff, (I do eft) then go back to that... trust the process...
Luck and peace,
L

Hi All,
First of all HELP....
I am experiencing a whole load of tears, heaviness, and
hopelessness. I am beginning to feel that somehow I must have
deserved this though I cannott recall having done anything bad.
Still I feel lowly, feeble and lost. I long to go home. Longing and
loss actually are predominant feelings, and I wonder what is up
ahead! Anyone else experienced similar pain? Is this Dark night time?
All thoughts appreciated.
