Dear Brothers and Sisters in K.,
Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to share the joy
and wonder of your Kundalini experiences with others, but then found
yourself confronted by their vehement skepticism? I have, many
times. One quickly comes to the realization that, unlike most
experiences, K. is almost entirely subjective. Therefore, there is
no objective evidence to back-up your claim. Unlike a trip to the
Grand Canyon, there are no Kodak moments to share, no rock sample to
show, and no post cards to send home.
K. has been the greatest blessing of my life. Before K. awakening,
I was a confirmed mono-materialist, that is, I basically believed
in "what you see is what you get", and that consciousness was
just a product of the brain (even though I was interested in the
metaphysical). A while after K. awakening, after I was able to
channel K. energy through the practice of Kriya yoga, I was graced
with a few moments of samadhi, nirvana, full awakening – whatever
you want to call it. These experiences convinced me that my Self
existed as some kind of energy, independent of my physical body, and
that it was immortal and full of bliss. Thus I became what is known
as a dualist, i.e., one who believes that the mind exists separately
from the brain.
But how do you share this with a non-awakened mono-materialist?
He/she is probably going to look at you askance and lump you in with
religious zealots, schizophrenics, dreamy-eyed new agers, or just
regard you as a credulous dupe. And if you attempt to provide
evidence by jumping on the pseudoscience bandwagon, and start
talking about 12 strand DNA, Planet X, the rising Schumann Resonance
frequency, invisible reptilians controlling our minds, and other
false and unfounded (albeit popular) fringe concepts, it's going
to do your credibility far more harm than good.
So, how about backing-up your subjective, yet real, K. experience
with real objective science? One of the key beliefs of a mono-
materialist is that the mind is a product of the brain. Yet 1963
Nobel Prize winner Sir John Eccles maintains this is
"superstition" (gotta love that word used in this context).
Eccles holds that the mind exists as a pattern of differential
energy potential at the quantum level, and exerts its influence on
the brain by altering the probability of which neurons will fire in
